What happens after you submit a listing for review
Every Month ‘n’ More listing is reviewed by a person before it goes public. Here’s what reviewers check, why listings come back, and published vs public.
You’ve added your photos, set your price and pressed submit. Now what? On Month ‘n’ More, every new listing is reviewed by a person on our team before renters can see it. Here’s what happens next, what reviewers look at, and how to get through review smoothly the first time.
Before you can submit
Two things need to be in place before the submit button works:
- A current owner ID check. A live photo ID plus matching selfie, renewed every six months. See Owner ID check: why we ask and how it works.
- An active owner plan with an open listing space. The owner plan includes two listings, and you can add more. See pricing explained for owners.
Your draft also needs the required details: a name, property type, description, private street address, city and state, a monthly price, an available-from date, a minimum stay of at least 30 nights, a maximum number of guests and at least one photo.
What happens after you submit
Your listing moves into the review queue. A member of our team opens it and checks the information you submitted against our standards and the Terms of Service. There are three possible outcomes:
- Approved. Your listing becomes public and appears in search.
- Changes requested. The reviewer asks for something specific to be fixed.
- Not approved. The listing returns to draft so you can make changes and resubmit.
Approval isn’t automatic, and we can’t promise a set review time. Reviews are done carefully, by people. The best way to keep things moving is a complete, accurate listing.
What reviewers look at
Here’s what our team checks, so you can check it first.
Your owner status
- Your owner ID check is current.
- Your plan is active and has room for this listing.
Photos
- Real, current photos of the actual home: every bedroom, bathroom, the kitchen and living area, plus the furnishings.
- No watermarks, stock images or other sites’ logos.
- Photos that make sense together. Rooms should match each other, and views and surroundings should fit the city and approximate location.
- Up to 12 photos per listing.
Price and stay length
- A monthly price that’s set for stays of 30 nights or more.
- A price that’s realistic for the area. Prices far below market get a closer look.
- No nightly or short-stay wording. Month ‘n’ More is for stays of a month or longer.
- No requests for wire transfers or up-front payments outside a confirmed arrangement.
Furnishings and details
- The home is furnished for living: a bed with linens and kitchen basics, at minimum.
- Bedroom and bathroom counts match the photos.
- Wi-Fi, laundry, parking and utilities are stated.
- The listing type is right (room, entire home, or a unit in a community), and it’s clear whether a bathroom is private or shared.
Description and rules
- The description describes the home, not the kind of person you want. Wording that shows a preference or limitation based on a protected characteristic, such as “no children” or “perfect for a single professional,” isn’t allowed. Our fair housing basics in the screening guide explain more.
- We recommend keeping phone numbers and email addresses out of the description. Renters can message you directly through Month ‘n’ More.

What review is, and isn’t
Review is a check of the information you submitted. It isn’t a home inspection, a title search or a confirmation of legal compliance. You don’t need to upload house or ownership documents to list. In specific cases, such as a report or a property transfer, we may ask for evidence.
You stay responsible for keeping your listing accurate and current, including price and availability.
Published vs public: why your listing might not show
This is the most common question after approval. A listing appears to renters only when all three of these are true:
- It’s approved by our team.
- Your owner ID check is current.
- Your plan is active with an open listing space.
So a listing can show as published in your dashboard but still be hidden from search if your ID check has lapsed or your plan has ended. If you can’t find your listing, check those two first. Listings you pause yourself also aren’t shown publicly while paused.
If your listing comes back
It happens, and it’s usually a quick fix. Common reasons include:
- A missing room in the photos, or a photo that looks borrowed or edited
- Bedroom or bathroom counts that don’t match the photos
- Utilities, Wi-Fi or parking not stated
- Nightly or weekly pricing language
- A rule or description line that describes people instead of the home
- A price that looks far out of line for the area
Read the reviewer’s note, make the change, and resubmit. If anything is unclear, ask Nia or open a support case through the Help Center.
After you’re approved
Once you’re public, renters can save your listing and message you. You’ll get in-app and email notifications, with browser push optional. If you’d like more visibility, you can add a listing boost for 14 or 30 days.
Keep in mind that later edits to the title, description, house rules, amenities or photos may be flagged for another review.
A pre-submit checklist

- Every room photographed, real and current
- Counts, amenities, utilities and parking match the photos
- Monthly price, 30-night minimum, no nightly wording
- Description about the home, not the renter
- Private vs shared spaces clear
